Ethiopia
Ethiopia is a place I've always wanted to go to and when I found out I was going, I could not have been more excited. Some great friends of mine in Indianapolis banded together and raised the funds to build a well in Ethiopia and I was honored to be able to visit the community receiving the well. It was so incredible to be able to literally watch them as they were digging and installing the well.
Ethiopia is a place that's easy to fall in love with. The people are so charming and welcoming. The culture is so beautiful and full of history. The entire place is breathtakingly beautiful. When I found myself in the back of a Land Rover in the middle of nowhere looking around seeing nothing but wild camels - I had to pinch myself. One of my favorite moments was climbing on top of the Land Rover (while wearing a moo-moo style dress covering me from head to toe and flip flops) so I could photograph the welcome ceremony that a village had planned for us - complete with waving palm branches, singing, dancing, and tea.
